CILT International Examination

Our qualifications in logistics and transport are offered from Level 1 through to Level 6, and are delivered through classroom training delivered by accredited training providers across the world. Our courses can be taken on a full-time or part-time basis according to the individual training provider.

Introductory Certificate in Logistics and Transportation

Operating at Level 2 (GCSE, O level standard), this professional qualification requires 160 guided learning hours. To achieve the CILT International Introductory Certificate in Logistics and Transport, learners must study and pass two mandatory units and two optional units. Optional units allow learners to specialise in different areas of logistics and transport and choose units that suit themselves and their employer.

Assessment is by examination and a single unit can be taken as a stand-alone course.

If a student has already studied for the International Entry Award (Level 1) they will not need to re-take the Introduction to Logistics module.

 

 

Entry Qualifications

Open to members with not less than five (5)  credit level passes in two sittings in GCE, SSCE, WASC etc at O/Level. Matured members and those with long industry experience.

International Certificate in Logistics and Transportation

First developed in 2006, the Certificate operates at Level 3 (A level/post-18 school/college leaver standard). It was revised in 2012 to take account of the changing profile of the global transport and logistics sector.

Students studying our qualifications will automatically gain access to the International Knowledge Centre – giving access to an extensive range of best practice and learning material.

WHO’S THE COURSE SUITABLE FOR?

The course is designed to support professionals moving into, or who are already within supervisory or team leader roles but require training and development.

 

 

 

ENTRY QUALIFICATION?

GCE, SSCE, WASC, O/Level with 5 credits in not more than two sittings, holders of National Diploma in non logistics and transport fields. Matured candidates can apply.

International Diploma in Logistics and Transportation

For entry to the International Diploma candidates are expected to have prior knowledge of logistics and transport operations and an awareness of the integrated nature of supply chain activities. Ideally this is through their own work experience and /or knowledge gained from studying the International Introductory Certificate and Certificate level courses.

Successful completion of the CILT International Diploma together with a minimum of two  years’ appropriate experience meets the eligibility criteria for membership upgrade from Student Member to Member (MILT) of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.

Candidates study a total of 4 units: 1 mandatory unit, 1 or 2 electives (from a choice of 3) and 1 or 2 optional units (from a choice of 13). Assessment is by examination

It is also possible for a single unit to be taken as a stand-alone course

ENTRY QUALIFICATION
Holders of National Diploma in Logistics and Transport, HND, First Degree in any discipline from recognized institutions.

IDLT is designed to support professionals involved in planning logistics operations and who are already in supervisory or operational management roles. It’s also ideal for graduates with non-business degrees moving into the logistics field.  It operates at Dip HE/HND level (Level 5 equivalent to 2 years of a degree).
WHAT’S THE TIME COMMITMENT?

As a guide, students should allow around 12-18 months to complete the programme although students can complete the qualification within six months depending on how the course is taught.

International Diploma in Logistics and Transportation

The focus of this course is on strategic logistics and transportation management. Issues in this area will be explored in depth and at a relatively advanced level. The student is expected to fully understand concepts and ideas around strategy and demonstrate competence in actually applying strategic thinking.

Due to the advanced level of the qualification, it is not possible to take units in stand-alone format.

ENTRY QUALIFICATION

Holders of International Diploma in Logistics and Transport, HND, BSc. in Logistics and Transport or related disciplines from recognized Institutions. Masters Degree in other fields can also apply.

Operating at Level 6 (degree standard) this qualification is designed for the next generation of business leaders, helping operational managers and technical specialists to think strategically, carry out in-depth research and stretch their knowledge and competence.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

Successful completion of the International Advanced Diploma, together with  appropriate experience, meets the eligibility criteria for membership upgrade to Chartered Member (CMILT) of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.

WHAT’S THE TIME COMMITMENT?

This qualification is studied part time due to the nature of the course and generally students will be employed in management positions, or aspiring to reach this level. Assessment is by examination and an assessed individual study.
